In 1979, when Santa Rosa was still a sleepy, little town, Pastor Mar De Torres with his young family came and started a mission work. Sent out from Pasig Bible Baptist Church under missionary Lloyd Baker, he had a burden to start a gospel-preaching Baptist church and reach the town for the Lord.

By 1981, the mission work became the Santa Rosa Bible Baptist Church with a core of a handful of members committed to help and support the work of God.

In 1985, the church held its first service under coco lumbers and make shift roof in this property.

By 1989, an ambitious four-storey building was birthed into the heart of Pastor Mar. Members regularly, sacrificially but very lovingly gave their talents, time and treasures to this monument of faith. God continued to bless and grow the church both spiritually and physically.

In 1999, Pastor Mar’s middle son was called to the ministry and assumed various key leadership inside the church.

In 2003 that Pastor Mar had to take a leave for one year with his wife from the rigors and pressures of a growing ministry for the United States, his son became interim pastor and steered the church from struggles into successes. In this year, the church has a record-breaking 3,000 attendance in one service.

In 2004, Pastor Mar came back as Pastor Adiel went to the United States to finish successively his masters and doctorate degrees in Theology at Fellowship Baptist Church, Clayton North Carolina. With the blessings of Pastor Mar, Pastor Adiel became a member of the Carpenter’s House Baptist Church, Germantown, Ohio and went back with his family to the Philippines as a missionary in 2006 starting a pioneering work at Calamba City, Laguna.

After 10 years, CHBC Calamba became a launching pad for preacher boys that Pastor Adiel and his wife have nurtured and trained in the ministry.  To date, they are now pastors and preachers in the various CHBC missions and churches scattered in the Philippine islands. While some are now police officers serving as Christian commanders to members of the Philippine National Police.

In January 18, 2013, Dr. Mario De Torres after 40 years in ministry, retired from the pastorate of Santa Rosa Bible Baptist Church. Dr. Adiel De Torres was named the succeeding pastor in a turn-over service with many senior pastors, government officers and members from Santa Rosa and Calamba present. In the same year, leaders and members from both churches decided to rename Santa Rosa Bible Baptist Church into Carpenter's House Baptist Church.

By God’s grace, today CHBC has become a strong and dynamic fellowship. A family of believers actively engaging our community and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ by taking a firm biblical conviction felt in a warm and caring atmosphere to build faith, family and lasting friendships.
